November first brings another theme day for the world’s daily photo bloggers. This month’s theme is “Doorway.” Wouldn’t life be better if you had this door? I mean, seriously, what kind of projects could you get done with a garage door like this, a forklift and a freaking overhead crane. I’ve decided that I want an overhead crane for Christmas… Santa? The theme for July is “Empty” and this big old empty cement chair has been inviting me and discouraging me for years. It’s a block from my house, but I have never sat in it. Someday I’ll sit down, but until then, I’ll just ponder it.

Minnesota in January? Hardly. I snuck out for a week to Santa Catalina Island with Joe Paquet. Joe was teaching a landscape-painting workshop there and I went with him to photograph the students & the island and to get out of winter for a few days. This photo was taken during a day hike I took with Deb (her husband was taking the workshop). We walked to the Pacific side of the Island. It ended up being an 11-mile round-trip and we climbed from sea level to 1650ft. This is the trail we were on. I could scarcely believe how steep it was! The view was worth the climb, check back in as I share more photos this week.
