Early Morning Light, Minneapolis

Some days are just harder to start than others. A little harsh light can only make things more painfully clear.

Bright Colors in a Brown World

The iconic Grain Belt Beer sign sits just across the Mississippi from downtown Minneapolis next to the Hennepin Ave Bridge. The sign used to be lit up at night, I wish they still kept it lit, that would be so much fun to shoot at night.

Lil Bug, Out for a Walk

Early morning errands must be done, and this lil' bug has it's own to run. I'm not sure if the journey across the milkweed leaf was business or just for fun; the milkweed flowers were in full bloom and very fragrant. I never noticed before how much they smell like orchids.

Rabbit Stalking Grass

Deep in the furrows of the tragically unmowed fields of the side lawn, Sheldon took refuge from the marauding hordes of Uptown. Though the thistle thickets threw the theives thoughts asunder, the wary photographer stole a shot of Sheldon's secret spot.

Eagle Eye

The closest I've ever gotten to  eagle. It's ok, he was on a leash, at the Minnesota Raptor Center release event. By using a long lens and large aperture, I was able to focus on the eye and throw the beak out of focus.

Red Cardinal, Blue Sky

Spring is here at last, and the birds are returning! And while some of our long-lost feathered friends come, we are letting some others go today. University of Minnesota Raptor Center is having their annual Raptor Release. All the hawks, eagles and other raptors that have been injured and taken care of by the University over the winter are released today at the Hyland Lake Park Reserve, 10145 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN. The event starts at 11am and the Raptors are released at 1:00pm. I've never been there before, but I'm going to go check it out today with Werner and Dusty.
