The floodlights on the Minnehaha Falls provide strange colors for a landscape!
Torrent of rainfall over the Minnehaha Falls.
I took this at twilight — there are floodlights on the falls and the light from them created this strange effect, I did not add color to the image at all. The oncoming storm provided the cool clouds.
Back before streetcars, horseless carriages and light rail…
It’s forbidden fruit week on Mitchster! I’ve avoided the obvious Minneapolis photos, but in my quest to document the consequences of the heavy rainfall we have been enjoying, I went to the Grand and Glorious Minnehaha Falls. So here is the first image, a long exposure, hand-held by yours truly, ‘the human tripod.’ One of the skills I am most proud of, the ability to completely stop moving for up to a couple seconds. Weird I know, but it comes in handy. Yes, there is significant post-processing going on here, but with shooting the falls, I can’t just post a plain photo… enjoy!
When my cousin Jenny took a photo class at the U, her instructor told the class that if anyone chose to bring in an assignment photo of Minnehaha falls, it better be a damn good shot of it. For this reason, I’ve avoided posting any photos of it. But, since I was out biking around looking at the rushing rivers from all the rain, I decided to take a photo. This is the classic angle almost everyone sees it from, so I decided to shoot a wide-angle of it, so you can see the ledge wall and the people. It’s unfortunately not a ‘damn good shot’ of the falls, but It’s the best one I got today.
