Eastern Blue Bird - Sialia Sialis

I met my first new bird of the season, an Eastern Blue Bird. After a long winter, it's nice to see a Bluebird of Happiness to show his visage in the thawing wonderland of the Twin Cities.

Duck Smiles as Mitchster turns 2!

With a smile like that you know he knows something that you don't know. You know what that is? Today's Mitchster.com's Second Anniversary. Who better to celebrate such a momentous occasion with than a duck? Yep, two years ago today I started blogging photos of Minneapolis. As fun as it is to share my work, I'm looking to shake it up. Any ideas? What would you like to see more of? p.s. I really did take this just yesterday; the coincidence just hit me this morning that I would be celebrating my anniversary with my mascot!

Ducky Day at the Lake

I think this little guy is actually smiling at me. He and his mom are enjoying the calm waters of the Lagoon between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles.

Lil Bug, Out for a Walk

Early morning errands must be done, and this lil' bug has it's own to run. I'm not sure if the journey across the milkweed leaf was business or just for fun; the milkweed flowers were in full bloom and very fragrant. I never noticed before how much they smell like orchids.

Rabbit Stalking Grass

Deep in the furrows of the tragically unmowed fields of the side lawn, Sheldon took refuge from the marauding hordes of Uptown. Though the thistle thickets threw the theives thoughts asunder, the wary photographer stole a shot of Sheldon's secret spot.
