About Minneapolis Photoblog

My Story
A photo outpost on the edge of the Great Western Prairie, Mitchster.com records life in this beautiful land of lakes in the rugged northern hinterland of Minnesota. Minneapolis is a bustling metropolis with beautiful greenspaces and meandering rivers that suffers some truly amazing winters.
Minneapolis was created by the railroads and there’s scads of rusting hulks scattered about: mysterious objets d’art beckoning for my attention.
My Approach
A city photographer takes a different approach to photographing a city than a photojournalist. It’s about exploring for the joy of it rather than looking for a news story or a crime. To go out exploring without finding a photo is still enjoyable. It’s the difference between a doctor’s examination and a lover’s exploration.
My Gear
I’m on my fourth digital camera, a Nikon D200. I currently use several lenses for the Mitchster.com shots: Tamron 11-18mm ultra-wide angle, Tamron 28-70 f/2.8, a Nikon 1.4 50mm, 70-300mm VR Nikon, a 200-500 Tamron and a 600mm catadioptric nightmare I call the “Cheerio Shooter” due to it’s insane bokeh.
My Day Job
I earn my dinner building websites for a wide range of clients. Thanks to this blog, I’ve become a bit of a WordPress expert and use my talents for good; WordPress is the next big thing. If you are interested in building a powerful marketing tool for your company or malevolent hobby, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for reading and I hope you find a little happiness and education in my posts. Please invite your friends to follow my photo journey with this blog and certainly feel free to comment.
