The retired container lift gazes on from it’s gravel pasture as the world’s goods rumble by. Imagine all the goods that pass through the great Union Yard that was once the common ground of over 30 individual railroads.

Another awesome rail shot. There is something gloomy and ominous about these photos. (ok besides the whole gloomy and ominous winter thing….. c’mon … I know that’s what you were thinking :-p )
Rail is in such a flux right now. It can’t decide if it is in a renaissance or if it is fighting a slow and painful death…or maybe both. This shot portrays that feeling. Especially when you do realize that at one time there were that many railroads.
The colors stand out in the fog. Let’s do more railroad shots!
