Cedar Waxwing Munching on Juniper Berries
He's lost his mating colors for the fall or he's a she — not sure. Good thing I'm not a Cedar Waxwing, right? Either way, IT was munching away while sitting in a juniper tree on Evergreen Point of Lake of the Isles. I stood only ten feet away for several minutes, but didn't phase the lil' bugger at all. It's got to be a trick to eat fruit that relatively large without thumbs, let alone hands.
Nice photo of a bird we don’t really get to see around here.
