Belt-driven Tool Transmission
I have no idea what this thing is really called, but I do know that an off-camera flash and an odd angle sure seem to work for it. This is in the machine shed up behind the drilling trucks. This week's series: "close-ups from the pioneer village" continues...
I hate to break it to you, but darn that’s a nice shot. I really need to play with the flash. There’s so much you can do.
I’ve always heard it called a line shaft, it was powerd by a main powersource, gas/diesel engene, water wheel, or whatever. With flat(leather) belt going to each machine, diferent size pullys for diffrent speeds, differnt widths for diferent powers.
It could build up some heart-stopping static charges under some conditions.
As old as I am I never worked with them.
Dad
Thanks Pop, I wasn’t sure what it was called.
