Aerial photo of Lake of the Isles

My first tenuous step into the world of KAP, Kite Aerial Photography. I've built a rig that works, but I need to find a new more stable kite. Keep an eye on me as I learn this new perspective on Minneapolis!

Angel

I was visiting my friend Joe Paquet the other day and saw this sculpture in his studio. Joe is a landscape painter who teaches classes in his studio in Lowertown, St. Paul. I am a student of his — my sense of composition and color are highly influenced by him.

Flower at the Conservatory

Are you getting the idea that I'm ignoring the great Minnesota outdoors during the Month of February? It's true; snow, ice, rain and gray over-cast days can take the wind out of a photo blogger.

Fern Detail

This close-up of a fern leaf was shot with a macro lens wide open to f3.2. This landed me a sharp detail with a shallow DOF. When I brought it into Lightroom, I was able to sharpen up the edges and add a vignette to focus your eye on the detail.
