CDPB Theme Day - Books
I'm running a few days behind, the City Daily Photo Blog Theme Day is the first but I couldn't think of any compositions with
books in them, so I kept looking. Alas, my own neighborhood proved fruitful again; this is Majors & Quinn Booksellers' discount books rack outside the door on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown. Shot with my trusty 70-300mm VR, I got close enough to get a distinct DOF between the books and the street behind it. Stats: 140mm F5 1/25th at ISO 1000. Hand held baby, the human tripod strikes again!
I love your take on theme day!
Lovely effect with those lights in the background. Happy Theme Day, even if it’s late. ;D
And nice to finally see your face. ;D
Oh I love a good hand held shot!!! I don’t usually get as good a result as you fo course, but I love to try! This one was worth waiting for. DOF is fab!!!
Definitely a photo worth waiting for! Really enjoy your site.
How did I miss this gem on Theme Day. (Ah, I see, you were late – well that’s OK then). Wonderful photograph with the books in focus and those lights in the distance. Interesting mix of books there. You are obviously a great human tripod, Mitch! Really like this.
Great book shot, at first I thought the books were in front of a window looking to the outside. I like the contrast of the books with the outdoor background!
Hey, Mitch, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment today. I got so much going on that it’s hard to leave regular comments even on blogs I like as much as yours.
I never got around to a book photo, another victim on time crunch. You did a very good job with this with the night tones and separating out the planes of the image. And handheld!
You are my Photoshop expert – can I ask you a quick question? I got CS4 a few days ago and installed it. Still using CS3, though. Do you know if there a way to import my custom Actions from CS3 to CS4 so I don’t have to re-write them all?
Thanks again.
Cool photo!
This shot was worth the wait.
Beautiful shot for theme day! I love your photos, they are just fantastic!
Thank you for the nice comment on my blog.
Excellent!!
