Milfoil harvester

What the? Yep, it’s a milfoil harvester. Eurasian water millfoil is an invasive plant that is running amok on our lakes. There’s no way to get rid of it than to pull it up.

So the Parks Department has these… things… that harvest it.

And now for something completely different…

This Uptown/Lyn-Lake institution is being subjected to change. There’s a new apartment building being assembled just East of it (you can see the scaffolding center). It’s new and exciting, but I’ll miss the previous building, a creepy gas station that sold milk by the “Galon”, I guess the extra “L” got in the way… for years. Let that be a lesson to you young-uns — learn to spell or they’ll knock you down and build luxury full-amenity apartments in your place.

Ryan Taylor

Last Friday night I documented the shooting of a music video. Ryan Taylor (shown above) and Scott Regan shot with a Red One 4K digital movie camera. Imagine shooting 4000 pixel-high video in 12 bit RAW mode at 30fps. Nope, neither can I. It was in impressive secret location. I’ll try to get the video when it’s available to share.

Looks like the Minneapolis fire and rescue have a new toy. I found these guys tearing it up on Lake Nokomis while I was out riding.

OK, OK, I’ll give the infrared a rest. But since today in my “Moment of Zen” day, where I try to stop your thoughts with an odd image, it fit. Here’s my TerraTrike. It’s a recumbent trike, loads of fun and a joy to ride. The best part is that I can haul my big camera around in the saddle bag and use it as a table when I am setting up my gear. Plus it’s funner-n-ell in the winter; I go looking for ice patches to slide on.

This is Fort Snelling State Park just south of the MSP airport in the Minnesota river valley.
