I love these guys, I haven’t seen them for a year and haven’t photographed one for an even longer time.

Bunny Alert

This lil’ guy was savoring the grass around Purgatory Creek in Eden Prairie, MN. He reminded me of a video I saw a while back that’s fun to share. You could call it an eco-friendly letter opener.

Storms over Minneapolis

As the storms rolled in, I raced off to hide my Jeep in a parking ramp to avoid the hail.
The hail never came, but the totally awesome clouds did.

OK, this is from July 4th in Minneapolis, but I wanted to wish our fellow revolutionary brothers & sisters a bon quatorze juillet! France is, after all, the home of the City Daily Photo Blog, thanks Eric!

Believe it or not, I took this night photo hand-held with a telephoto lens. Yes, it’s the Nikon 70-300mm VR to the rescue. 1/6th of a second at f/4.5 and a focal length of 165mm. If you breath slow enough, you don’t need a tripod!

It’s possible that my former co-worker/mentor Mike Smith was right that if you drink enough caffeine, you jitter fast enough that you appear still. Either way, VR or Image Stabilization rocks!

For your High Lo’s, hop on over to the site of the new Guthrie Theater and look up.

I’m itching to get back there, I took this when I was down to see the bridge with my friend Chris. We stopped by to visit his sister-in-law Amy who sells yummy shortbread and scones at the open-air market there. She said that in the morning, the shadow of the sign hits a red wall behind it in a way that all you can see are the two letters ‘ME.’

Ever get the feeling someone’s watching you? This construction worker at the 35W St. Anthony Bridge construction site takes a moment to check out the crowds watching him. I have a hard time typing when someone is watching me, I can’t imagine working with power tools in the wind 150 feet over the Mississippi River.

What a job! Look at all the cool gear these guys have. Just to the left of the red thing in the bottom left is a patch of gray — that’s the bridge, everything else scaffolding and gear.

Look at all this guy is wearing: a harness, knee pads, gobs of safety gear and a huge tool belt (check out the hammer). For those of us who earn their salt slingin’ bits, a real job like this is pretty impressive.
