Thea -
St. Anthony was the name of the town across the river from Minneapolis. It is now part of Minneapolis, but the falls in the middle of the river are called the St. Anthony Falls. So the Bridge is named for the falls and the old town. The old bride had the sad name of "Bridge 9340", so this bridge has a much better name. You can learn more about the old bridge here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/35w_bridge and the new bridge here: http://projects.dot.state.mn.us/35wbridge/index.html

Hello,

I am looking for the info on the history of that bridge. Could you please help? Do you know where does the name come from, St Anthony? Was the previous bridge having the same name?

Kind regards,

Thea
