Daily Minneapolis Photography - Street Scenes, Wildlife & Weather

Minneapolis Photographer Mitch Rossow’s daily photos of Minneapolis and the Twin Cities.

Chiropractic

Behind the scenes at MRDI. Production for Lake Pointe Chiropractic & Wellness.

My friend Jack sent this video to me. It’s worth watching, really. He’s in it. You can see him at 2:06, wearing a black cowboy hat on the right. But that’s besides the point.

It’s been a long week for me and this morning I didn’t feel like posting a picture or working on the blog. I’ve been falling behind and loosing interest. What’s it for? Why am I doing this? There is so much I must do and I’m building five websites at the same time right now (today’s pic is from one of them), so why am I blogging every damn day?

Then Jack sent me this video and I realized that I’m in the dance. This video is so beautiful. I makes me realize that all the photo bloggers around the world that I share the daily photo project with are all out there dancing. We aren’t dancing for each other, we aren’t dancing for ourselves — nobody is paying us, nobody might see us, there is no promise at the end, no golden ticket, but we dance. That’s why. Simply for the joy of the dance.

So smile, dance a little and remember that we are all in this together.

Very well said. We must all get tired of this at times, wondering if it’s worth the time and effort. Especially those of us with DSLRs who compulsively Photoshop every picture we post. It pulls me away from other things I want to do (and work, too) but I just really enjoy it. Ars gratia artis. Keep up your excellent work.

BTW, I really like the photo. It looks like a collaboration between George Segal (the sculptor, not the actor) and a traditional Chinese physician.

I don’t make many comments unless I’m moved. You moved me. I too know why I am doing the daily ritual. My city of Coral Gables is fantastic and I am pleased to share it with the world. You may have noticed that I post a large percentage plants, much of it from my garden. Well, horticulture is my prime interest. And there is a lack of people in my pictures. The people in my city are a collection of the entire world. And we like it that way. The only person that gets many pictures on the blog is my grandson.
I could write much more on this, but a strong storm is starting up now. Just, thank you.

Mitch - I too at times feel uninspired and feel blogging has become too much work. for those times I’m feeling uninspired, I take a virtual tour across our blogiverse and find so many creative ideas.

I then ask myself, why am I blogging my photos? Then I wonder why am I taking these photos. The reason is simple, because we enjoy photography. But what the photo worth if it is not shared? If we keep our photos to ourselves, then whats the point of filling up hard drive space with photos to never be seen?

We dance, we snap photos, sometimes together on photoshoots, sometimes not. Usually I shoot photos with the tips and info I have learned shared by photo-bloggers like yourself.

We come together to share, learn, and experience. Perhaps in the photos we shooot, there is a piece of fellow bloggers in that photo. Not literally, but figuratively, with someone else in the back of our minds as we snap our photos.

Maybe this is for ourselves, maybe this is for each other, and maybe this is simply for the joy of it.

I thank you for the help, tips, and camraraderie.

Thank you; now get out there and dance!

Hey Mitch,

Cheer up! Don’t forget, for those of us reading this blog- it is a welcome break in the day. And you are very witty, and have an amazing wealth of knowledge about my fave place! (Minneapolis).

Mitch, I think we all have those days! I’ve had several lately and the “daily” part of my blog has been lacking. Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder of why we do it!! PLEASE don’t leave us!
