I found a fort in the woods by Cedar Lake. Pretty interesting, it’s bigger than my living room! Who ever built it surpasses me for creative use of spare time. Probably the local kids, if so, much better than video games and punking in front of McDonalds.
Check out the fire pit and the seating! The forestry crews have been cutting to deadwood in the park, so that’s probably where the seats came from. Looks like the roof is ready for some branches.
Very cool guys. If you made this or know who did — please leave a comment, I’m impressed!

Great find. A reward for tramping around in the woods.
It looks too sophisticated to have been made by children. My guess is that some teens made it as a secluded place to drink. A more innocent explanation would be that someone made this just as a quiet place to bbq and picnic.
How fabulous! I do hope you discover who made this. Great shots, as always.
How cool is that?! My two daughters and their friends have made a similar fort in the woods behind our house. Fun to see them just making stuff up, like we did when we were kids; no pre-arranged play dates needed for a fort! One time, they laid down a neat and comfy moss carpet. And when I discovered they’d concocted a working latrine, I had to shut that down. The TP roll on a branch was nice touch, though.
This is what many people call The Hobbit Hut! It was made by many different people over a long period of time. Regulars come there and have picnics and do drink (although they are all older/of age people who simply enjoy spending time outside and letting their dogs play). There are trash bags in the fort and people are careful to pick up trash.
However, I do hear that the police soon plan to tear this down, because they think people are sleeping in it.
I hope nobody takes it down before I see it…
