Minneapolis Photographer Mitch Rossow presents daily photos of Minneapolis. Cityscapes, People & Perspectives: Mitch explains composition and techniques.
I haven’t figured out what it is about this image, but I can’t stop looking at it. There are so many contrasts and the color balance was very tricky. This photo would have been nearly impossible with film — it took me several shots to get the exposure right.
What’s with the preponderance of green and blue glass on buildings? Is it to keep them cool?

I like the composition and the contrast of colours!
Here’s another of Mitchster’s patented angle shots. Boy, it really moves the eye around! And the palette is largely the three primary colors. Good shot, Mitch, and a nice change from the wide-eyed bovids. Already tired of them on the 2nd day; maybe a profile tomorrow of another species? I’m not too demanding.
This has a lot of rhythm. It vibrates. I like a little complexity in a photo.
What did you vary between exposures and what did you do in the computer? Your Photoshop skills are better than mine and I’, happy to learn new techniques.
Interesting questions. I dunno.
Sydney Daily Photo Turns 2 today!
Love the colors in the Mitch. The sunlight from the left side is awesome. I love the way it blends into the glass. The lines through the pic are also great. Really draws my eye into the top center of the pic. Did you use a polarizing filter on this?
