Theme Day - Graffiti
I found this image on the retaining wall of Interstate 94 just East of the Mississippi river in St. Paul facing a small railyard while I was out shooting with my friend
Larry Mishkar. I chose it for today because of it's striking contrast, representational style and a simple composition. Also, as a photographer, I like the eye theme. Speaking of themes, Graffiti is the theme for this month at the
CDPB. My favorite past theme day photos include the
Midtown Greenway Bridge and
Best Photo of the Year 2007. If you haven't seen it, my most popular photo this month was of the
Total Lunar Eclipse shot with a 2000mm lens. The big event this month in my world was the
City of Lakes Loppet.
I just can get over how talanted people are, and they way they use their talent. This one is really good.
Great strong colours. Is he watching me??
)
This is stunning. A real ‘stop you in your tracks’ mural.
Nice choice.
One of my favorite graffiti shot.
nice find! and a great shot
you cannot stay indifferent to that eye looking deep into you!!
Great shot.
Your pictures are very impressive, the eclipse is Top!!!
Interesting shot and the mural is well done. I know some people are fascinated collecting artwork, pictures, beads, etc. all with the eye motif; but I don’t get it. I think it is a little spooky. I don’t want to feel like someone is always watching me.
amazing
Nice choice, Mitch!
Representational but an interesting concept. Love the subtle color. There really are some good artists on these walls. I just got my post uploaded – more about plain text and comment. There was a lot of good material on the floodwall along the Mississippi. I’ll put more on Flickr some time today. Can’t tell why but some of them have Minneapolis – St. Paul references. I’ll email those to you.
I’m not a big fan of murals but this one, that face, is pretty cool.
very nice photo, and a talented artist! happy theme day!
Amazing detail, those graffiti have it’s own culture common to world wide. It’s really fascinating topic if we continue to document. Who knows how long this one last and some one painted totally different on over it.
Great photograph!
the eye! it’s looking at me!
*staring back at it*
haha…
Happy Theme Day!
I like your choice.
Cool warryingly eye.
it seems looking at me in a bad way!
Nice capture, great !
Ive seen this eye tagged to a building in construction along Franklin Ave. in Minneapolis today, and as my buddy bud Joe H. was driving me back to my place we were reminded about seeing this before. This eye has been put all over the metro for sure I can tell you. MN maybe, middle west maybe, I dont know the artist of this. I would like to know if this is a gang put or just a rebel dude or a gifted artist.
I would like to know if anybody who comes across here knows anything about the .. the .. anything about it more than I know that its in MN a few times around. Peace
I’ve seen this pop up twice off of Hiawatha. The first looks as though it was done in a bit of a hurry, as it’s right off the highway. The other is behind some train cars. I think there is a photo of it up on my blog. I found it rather striking especially in comparison to what is usually over in that area. Quick, spray paint squiggles you aren’t even able to make out.
