Strange -
Thanks for the fun comment! Here's the stats:
1/1250 sec f/8 11mm

The ice is pretty safe — over a foot thick, however, I wouldn't walk on a river! Moving water is much more unnerving than a still lake.

Thanks!

Amazing photo! The blue contasting with the dark trees is great. I am surprised that it was 1 pm in the afternoon too!

This is an amazing sky cloud image.
I love clouds. It's hard to believe it was 1 oclock in the afternoon!

You composed this one just right!

Some photography article I read said that good luck favors the prepared. Your lever of skill got you this spectacular shot when the opportunity occurred. What was your f stop, shutter speed and focal length?

BTW, the idea of walking around on the ice seems like a dangerous thrill to me. Although it's normal at your latitude, it just doesn't happen much here. The Mississippi River used to freeze over regularly in the 19th Century. People could walk from Missouri to Illinois. It hasn't happened in the 40 years I've been here, nothing more than scattered ice chunks flowing down from the north.
